It's been a while since I've last written about my experience with Green Bean Delivery. The every day hustle and bustle of early mornings, school, soccer, dance, and everything in between takes your mind in all sorts of directions.
I know a lot of you are curious about how GBD works and what you can get. I'm a visual learner, and I like to see finished products before I make decisions, so I decided to let you in on our weekly delivery in case you are just like me.
Before I begin, let me just say that I am STILL very satisfied with this service. My daughter even looks forward to "GreenBean Day" and helps me set out the bins and bring the new ones in, and even helps me put everything away on some days. I love hearing her identify fruits and veggies (especially the not-so-common ones) - this must be the teacher in me. It's a sad reality that most kids just don't know what some fruits and veggies are besides carrots, apples and potatoes.
Ok, so here we are with today's delivery. It came right around 12:30pm.
Bin #1:

In this bin, we have:
2 Hartzler's Non-Homogenized WHOLE milk - All-Natural Milk from local farms that don't use any pesticides or herbicides
2 Organic Valley Mozzarella shredded cheese (I use this when I make & pre-freeze homemade pizzas)
Organic Valley Stringles - both Colby Jack and Mozzarella - I keep these in "Elle's Drawer" for a grab-&-go snack
2 packages Maria & Ricardo's spinach tortillas - I use these almost every day to make lunches. They are SO yummy! I tried making my own, and just can't get them consistant enough, so I get these.
Organic Valley Cream Cheese
Organic Valley Block Cheddar cheese - for grating fresh cheese, sandwiches/wraps or Grilled cheese
Gunthorp Farms Whole Chicken 4.25lbs - for the crockpot
2 lbs Marksbury Farms ground beef - no antibiotics, no hormones, from happy, grass-fed, sunshine-grazing moo-moo's
Bin #2:

In this bin we have:
1 more Hartzler WHOLE milk
Stoneyfield Plain WHOLE yogurt - to make my own yogurts & dressings
2 dozen Local Farm Fresh eggs - I'll usually hard-boil one dozen for snacking and/or breakfasts/lunch. Elle says "I want an egg and crack it" and I love that she knows how to do it (though it's a bit messy at times). It's one of her favorite (& super healthy!) snacks.
1 bag Thompson Organic Raisins - for snacking and adding to my quinoa salad and oatmeals
2 Bean Haus Breads - Honey Oat and Pretzel - These are honestly the best breads I have ever tasted. You just HAVE to try the Pretzel Bread - it's addicting and only 5 ingredients (not 15-20 junk ingredients like grocery store bread).
Bin #3:

In this bin we have:
1 bunch broccoli - organic
4 Honeycrisp apples- organic
1 bunch carrots- organic
1 garlic- organic
1 cucumber- organic
2 avocados- organic
2 green bell peppers- organic
1 bunch cilantro- organic
1 bunch Red Russian Kale- organic
For a grand total of $150.25 (-$4.50 for recycling & returning my glass milk containers - I love this!)
No crazy trip to the grocery with kids, no gas wasted, and my bins were completely customized by me in my quiet office just 2 days ago. I'll take this any day :)
I hope you see just how amazing this service is. What I love most of all is that I am supporting local farms as well. Do that while saving my sanity and precious time and I'm game.
Check out GreenBeanDelivery.com for more information and to try it out. Don't forget to mention my name, Jodi Bertke, when checking out, and we'll BOTH get 10% off our orders!
I know you'll love it as much as I do!
