I'm so glad you stopped by! Whether you are interested in bettering yourself or others, Welcome!
It's so important to not fall into the 'old school' thinking that government tells us what is and isn't healthy, and that 'fad' diets are the answer to weight loss. Diets are (yet shouldn't be) one-size fits all. Sadly, we cannot rely on our own goverment to look after us and our kids. They are failing miserably, and that's where Health Coaches come in!
Allow me to introduce myself.
I am married to an amazing man, Chad. We have one daughter, Elle, and we are expecting another in September 2014! I was an inner-city elementary teacher for 4 years, where I was quick to figure out that I didn't want one person, yet a government, tell me how much I'm worth without even knowing how much I busted my butt at my job. I loved my job, but I grew very tired of the long hours, weekends spent planning, and all the extra stuff that governments and school administrations expect teachers to do... all I wanted to do was TEACH!
Long story short, I decided to stay home with my baby. Never wanting to be the stay-at-home-mom who doesn't contribute to the income, I decided to sell Zija (which we had already begun consuming for about a year). It's an amazing product that has truly changed our lives. Through Zija, I was awaken to the fact that our food supply is extraordinally less-than-par, and is simply killing us. Our food is not REAL food, and I don't want my baby girl growing up on cheap, processed food. I also want to make sure that my hubby and I were able to live long, happy and healthy lives.
Once I became pregnant, I also was surprised to find out that vitamins (specifically prenatal) were not fully absorbed into the body (if at most, 3%), so Zija became my new prenatal. Ever hear of the saying that "Americans have the most expensive pee?" It's true. Our vitamins are foreign to our bodies and therefore are pushed right out. Right around the same time, I met with a good friend of mine and she told me all about making her own baby food. I was SO intrigued... who does that?! She told me about regulations where there is a max amount of contaminates allowed in food, specifically baby food. What?! I did a little research, and sure enough, I found it.
Right then and there, I decided that I was going to be in control of what my family ate, and not let goverment treat my family as lab rats with their toxic ingredients and lack of scientific data proving their safety. I started by making all her baby food, which was surprisingly fun and cost-saving. I used all organic (and from my dads garden every chance I could). I started shopping at my local farmer's markets too, and I was so surprised how much I would love talking to the people who grow my food! I added spices, too, because conventional baby food is gross and bland. I thought, "If I wouldn't want to eat this, why in the heck should I expect my baby to?" Elle LOVED the spices!
When Elle was getting closer to the age of eating table food, I told my hubby that in order to save me hours in the kitchen, much less my own sanity of coordinating two separate meals every time, (and of course save money!) we were going to adopt a non-processed way of eating at home. Much research and thought went into adopting this, and I spent our last gift cards from our wedding (nearly 3 years ago) on must-have kitchen staples that would make my life easier. I started following a few blogs on non-processed eating, tried all the recipes, and I continue to love every second of it!
Because of my new-found passion and love for all things healthy, I have become sort of a geek researching online. I want to know how it's possible to market things on shelves, when the ingredients are clearly not OK for human consumption, or why food makers can legally advertise that their 'food' contains fruit, when in reality it's just chemicals that taste like fruit.
I noticed very quickly that when people started drinking Zija, it was creating a better them. It was making them healthier, more energized, and it's just a drink with a TON of the nutrients/vitamins that our bodies go without every day. Then it hit me: If that one drink is making people healthy, then obviously what goes into our bodies (food) is our greatest medicine (unfortunately, the 'food' on most peoples forks are digging their very own grave!)
Which leads me to my next chapter in my life - Holistic Health Coaching. I decided to enroll in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's (IIN) Health coaching certification program, because I truly believe we need to start living in a 'Back to Basics' way of life. I remember when I first started on this journey, there were hardly any local resources for me. Everything was online or a distance away. I learned quickly that I was not the only like-minded person in my community, and I want to help anyone that comes my way! From individuals to businesses or groups of friends, even just my Facebook community, my mission is to wake the world up with what is really going on behind the scenes, especially those happening without our knowledge/consent.
I will share with you any information that is crucial to your life, and even our most prized possessions and the world's most valuable assets- our kiddos. From recipes, tips, and even my personal experiences, let's work together to build a healthy community for our kids! With Zija and Health Coaching... I am hoping to change some lives out there. Everything I do from here on out is meant to better our community, our life, our world. So, here's to a BRAND NEW Modern.Healthy.You!
